MAST Travel Network Honors Top Member Agencies and Preferred Suppliers

More than 290 members and suppliers attended MAST Awards Night, Thursday, March 10 at the Drake Hotel Oak Brook, Illinois. 139 awards were presented in seven categories to 64 agencies and 9 preferred suppliers.

MAST’s highest sales award, the All Star Award, was presented to 25 agencies for their 2015 preferred supplier sales. Top agency was Cary Travel Express in Cary, Illinois. In addition to the award, these 25 top agencies will also attend the All Star trip this fall hosted by Apple Vacations.

Twenty-four agents were honored with the Million Dollar Agent Sales Award for their achievements in individual sales of MAST’s preferred suppliers. An additional nineteen received the Outstanding Agent Sales Award for their leisure travel sales on MAST’s preferred suppliers.

In the Business Development Awards category, two members won for Best Group Promotion. The first was David’s House of Travel, Manitowoc, Wisconsin for their Prague to Paris group with Viking Cruises. The second was Picture Perfect Travel, Rock Island, Illinois for their Theater group to Ireland. GetAway Travel, Hartland, Wisconsin won the Best Travel Show Award, for their Italy Travel Show at a local wine bar.

MAST also recognized the exceptional service provided by its preferred suppliers as voted by its members. Suppliers were divided into two sales categories with members choosing two suppliers for each award.

MAST’s President and COO, John Werner, CTC, presented the President’s Award to Joan Cook with Travel Discoveries, Ltd.
Watseka, Illinois. Werner adds, “This member has demonstrated that small travel agencies can be enormously successful. Her recipe for this success is a mix of community involvement, being the go-to travel expert in the area, knowing her customers intimately well, and creating really fun group trips.”

MAST introduced a new award category this year, the Directors Achievement Award. MAST is comprised of many successful small volume sales producers. With this award the MAST Board of Directors recognizes one high achievement member agency with preferred suppliers sales under $500,000. The Directors Achievement Award was awarded to GetAway Travel, Hartland, Wisconsin.

Werner, in his closing remarks referenced Virgin Atlantic Airways Entrepreneur Series to help small businesses grow and face the challenges of bigger competitors. The series recently featured a panel of influential entrepreneurs speaking to an audience in Los Angeles, the main points made by the panelists include, “Business is about making a positive difference in people’s lives. It is not just about dollars. Entrepreneurship is not a job. It’s a passion. And think globally. You can do greater things when you stop thinking only about yourself.”
