We specialize in planning memory-filled vacations in Hawaii and were especially thrilled to arrange a family celebration of three generations for a 50th wedding anniversary trip. We made all the arrangements for a New Year’s cruise of the Hawaiian islands aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America, visiting Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island of Hawaii.

The day the ship stopped in Kauai, we created a self-drive itinerary so the family could enjoy their own day as they pleased. We reserved a 12-passenger minivan for the family and mapped out an exciting day that included Waimea Canyon and its endless breathtaking sights, the iconic lush-green cliffs along the Napali Coast, and a relaxing stop at the famed St. Regis Princeville Resort for tropical drinks and incredible views. The perfect day was capped off with a plantation house dinner arranged by us at Roy’s Poipu Bar and Grill, which has now become Eating House 1849 with chef Roy Yamaguchi’s style of Hawaiian haute cuisine.

On the Big Island, we recommended the family plan a day at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We told them about the must-see stops such as the Kilauea Visitors Center and the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. Also included in their itinerary was a visit to the Jaggar Museum, a museum on volcanology and lava types. The museum contains Hawaii cultural exhibits too and just outside is The Overlook with a view of the Ka’u Desert Wilderness. After leaving the National Park, and before heading back to the ship, we routed them to the Volcano Winery for a Hawaiian wine tasting and shopping. This award-winning winery features unique blends with local tropical fruits and honey from the blossoms of macadamia nut trees. The vines for their estate Pinot Noirs thrive in the volcanic soil. After a final glass of wine, another special day ended before a spectacular dinner on the ship.
