MAST Travel Network Honors Top Member Agencies and Preferred Suppliers

More than 290 members and suppliers attended MAST Awards Night, Thursday, March 12 at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, Illinois. One hundred and twenty-nine awards were presented in six categories to 55 agencies and 12 preferred suppliers.

MAST’s highest sales award, the All Star Award, was presented to 25 agencies for their 2014 preferred supplier sales. Top agency was Cary Travel Express in Cary, Illinois. In addition to the award, these 25 top agencies will also attend the All Star trip this fall hosted by Hyatt Resorts of Hawaii and the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau at the Hyatt Regency Maui.

Twenty-four agents were honored with the Million Dollar Agent Sales Award for their achievements in individual sales of MAST’s preferred suppliers. An additional sixteen received the Outstanding Agent Sales Award for their leisure travel sales on MAST’s preferred suppliers.

In the Business Development Awards category, Cary Travel Express in Cary, Illinois won for Best Group Promotion for their 25th Anniversary trip to Australia and New Zealand. Dream Navigators in Elmhurst, Illinois, won the Best Travel Show Award, for their European Travel Show.

MAST also recognized the exceptional service provided by its preferred suppliers as voted by its members. Suppliers were divided into two sales categories with members choosing two suppliers for each award.

Best Support of Travel Agents in Consumer Marketing – Royal Caribbean International

MAST’s President and COO, John Werner, CTC, presented the President’s Award to Rick South and Kay South with The Travel Center Ltd. Des Moines, Iowa. Werner adds, “One of the things that make Rick and Kay great role models is the dedication to their independent contractors. Their independent contractors are made to feel part of the family and are given the tools and support to achieve their own success. And since their ICs excel in sales, all rolling up under MAST, their success makes the organization stronger.”

Werner, in his closing remarks for the evening, challenged every member to create new business and inspire people to travel. Werner referenced the dozens of MAST agencies and individual agents that were award winners and recipients for the first time because they created groups, grew their customer base by meeting more people and marketed their agencies and themselves as experts in travel. He stated that their participation in continuing professional education offered by MAST and preferred suppliers was something all these members had in common. Werner added, “Fam trips provide a wonderful education but the objective for taking a fam trip is not so you can check off a destination on your bucket list. A fam trip is a business trip that will result in sales for you, the supplier who provided the trip, and the people in the destination who rely on tourism for their livelihood.”
